MVMT Roots
I've never connected with basic gyms and classic training styles, finding them rigid and uninspiring. In college though, I discovered my gym. It was unpredictable, boundless and most of all not boring! I knew that if I was going to train, it would be to take full advantage of the outdoors and make the world my playground.
During and after my UofL undergrad in Exercise Science I split my time between learning the gym industry and leading outdoor adventure trips. This unique experience taught me two major things:
1) The fitness industry is severely lacking in its understanding of Adventure Sports
2) Most adventure athletes' concept of training is to just do their sport more. (i.e. runners run, climbers climb, cyclers ride, paddlers...well, you get the idea)
The issue being that Adventure athletes are too often injured and underperforming while also being criminally underserved by the fitness community.
The opportunity being my knowledge, experience and connections in both worlds.
And at BAREfit Adventure Training, the gym I co-founded in 2012, I grew the seed planted by this opportunity into a full fledged program centered on building Mobile, Durable, Adaptable and all around Capable outdoor adventurers.
The seed grew into Adventure MVMT
